PATIENT EDUCATION - GRIEF & LOSS

Some losses change the shape of everything

Grief can follow the death of someone you love, though it can also come with the loss of a relationship, your health, a role, a future, or a familiar way of life.

Grief is not a problem to solve or a sign that you are coping poorly. It often appears because someone or something has mattered deeply.

Learning to Carry What Cannot Be Fixed

Grief can leave you moving through a world that looks much the same while feeling completely different. It is not something to get over. It is something we gradually learn to carry.

Whether your loss involves a loved one, a relationship, a pet, your health, or a dream that never came to be, grief reflects the importance of what was lost. Healing does not ask you to forget what mattered. It often means discovering that joy and sadness can exist together.

The goal is not to erase your grief or force yourself to move on. The resources below can help you make room for what hurts while staying connected with the people, values, and parts of life that still matter.
